課程概述 |
Junior English Composition guides students to conduct research independently and write research paper. It is especially helpful for those who plan to pursue graduate studies or study abroad. In the first semester, we will center on some essential tasks of writing research papers, including the methods of selecting and narrowing topic, finding useful resources, summarizing, paraphrasing, reviewing, critically assessing outside material, avoiding plagiarism and so on. Students will also learn to find their own voice and craft sensible arguments. Students will have to complete several short assignments, which will lead to a longer paper in the spring semester.
Students are required to present assigned readings and review fellow students’ works and actively participate in class discussion. |

This course aims to guide students to conduct research independently. It is to help students develop proper techniques of in-depth research writing.
Students are expected to
-- further develop writing skills for academic paper
-- select and narrow topic
-- paraphrase, summarize and critically review academic material
-- find position or develop argument
--- avoid plagiarism |
課程要求 |
Regular Attendance.
Active Participation in class.
Peer Review.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
Please respect deadlines for assignments(oral presentation and written works). Lateness will be counted negatively in the final grading. Those who Fail to hand in assignments either in hardcopies or digital versions by extended date will automatically receive zero for the assignments. |
